Hi all, I have used the German method for several years and have always been able to insert the needle into the ink chamber. I have a new OEM empty cartride that I am unable to get the needle into the chamber. It seems like t here is no passage...is this possible?

What sort of cart? There must be a passage, but sometimes the needle just won't get over some kind of ridge at the bottom. You have to simply try again and again, while bending the syringe slightly in different directions.
I am using sharp needles for initial poking, but these are difficult to keep in a straight forward direction. A blunt tip is better for poking all the way through the passage

Thanks for your reply. It is a Canon CLI-8 and I use the bottles with blunt needles. I had a cartridge in the past that I had to bend the needle to make it work so I just tried that needle and it finally worked. Yesterday I was in a hurry and not much patience:) Thanks

When in a hurry, with a thick (and sharp) needle you can perforate the separation :)
But with thin and flexible ones it is easier to find the passage.
