ultra sonic jewellery cleaners for Canon print head cleaning

I've never used a ultrasonic cleaner, but I've used a waterpik ("dental irrigator" device designed to blast water between your teeth) with good results on my IP6700D. You use it on the intake ports/screen part of the head. Given the crickets my post got, I'm apparently the only one, but hey, works for me:

Could you compare the strenght of stream from your dental device versus a 20cc syringe with a typical needle? Is it the same?

Smile, you could probably get more pure pressure through a syringe, but the Waterpik puts out a fairly large volume of water in pulses. It's like a little pressure washer. There's a video on their website here:

A little past halfway they show just the tip in full speed action to give you a better idea of what it's like.

The pressure can border on the painful on your gums if you aim it wrong, so it's fairly robust, although it's designed to not do damage.

I've heard the cordless versions don't work as well (for your teeth), and other brands aren't as good as Waterpik but don't have first-hand knowledge. You can probably learn the qualities of each model by reading Amazon reviews. This is the exact model I use:

I print sporadically, so my printer may sit for weeks, then I print a whole bunch of stuff. I've had to use [the Waterpik] a couple of times since that first post, and it still prints well. I use MIS ink.

I have pretty much decided on using dye based ink in the pigmented cartridge. My problem is in the print head.
I just hope I can clean the head for the pigmented black which would at least give us a spare machine. From now to Christmas is chaos time for us and I like to have everything sorted and working fine in October.

I should point out that the homemade vacuum syringe tool shown is sized for the small sized color ports, not the larger PG5 port in the head, you would have to modify the pump end with a suitable larger size piece of tube.

Hope this gives you some new things to try , please let us know if anything works , (even partially) , or not.
