I had never looked at the trophy points system before but had wondered about their purpose.

So I looked them up and found this among other data. Others may be interested.

I have thought of another possible variable, what about number of viewings of member originated messages.

This would reward interesting discussions and information, i. e. the things that build the popularity of the site.

For example "Support" would do well for 'picture of the week' with viewings at 51,000.

Whey you buy the printer for a song you get a free pack of photo paper as a trophy, and 4 points for introducing yourself here on Nifty. Where the printer advise is always free....

I try to keep my likes above the number of messages.
