Frankly guys, I don't understand why anybody would use CURA in the first place. A nasty unfriendly interface that seems to be shouting at the user 'go away you fool !
I have used CURA 15 04.6 from the very start, but then switched over to some Slicers due to others saying that this one or that one was better..

But in the end I went back to the old CURA reliable and have done all of my best work with it, and as I said if it Ain’t broke why change it..
If the printer doesn’t object, who am I to complain..

So 8 years on and it’s still my go to Slicer..

I bought S3D slicer as it was the de facto slicer for printing 3Dlabprint RC models. It was a good slicer in its day and I still use for their models, however, it is way behind now in terms of features .

I tried Cura, didn't like the interface much, tried Prusa which is better but I have settled on Orca as it is the inteface I find most intuitive and I like the implementation of support painting, the ability to measure parts on the slicer, litlle things like that are useful, not essential, but useful at times

I also like the way they have implemented adding different parameters at chosen layer heights (Height range modifier). Most of the newer slicers can do that but I find Orca easiest to use.

If you watch this short video it explains why you might want to do that.

When it comes down to it any of the modern slicers will work just fine, just use whatever one feels the best fit for your way of working.

@Nifty - Give Orca a try and see how it goes, you may be surprised.

I have a couple of times and liked it. In fact, a few times it resolved a printing issue that CURA couldn't fix... but I had to use a microSD card.

... that said, until either of these happen, I'm sticking with CURA:

1) Orca, etc. support direct USB printing
2) I own a printer that supports LAN and/or Wifi printing
