Thank you Ghwellsjr.

And thanks to every one else on this forum for all the tips on saving a clogged print head.

I picked up a used iP4000 that had the off-brand ink cartridges with the small air vent holes like in this post.

All 5 ink carts were empty so I expected to find a burnt print head.

Put in a set of Canon ink carts and ran a service mode print head deep cleaning followed by a service test print.
The print showed no Cyan and spotty Magenta so I expected the worst.

So I used your head cleaning process.

After that all colors, including the Cyan, were spraying with only a few nozzles missing.
Powered off the printer and let it sit for a few days with the Canon ink cartridges in it.
When I powered it back up and ran a test print all the nozzles were now working.:)

Letting the purge unit pump do the work really works, thanks.

You're sure welcome. Always glad to hear success stories.

For others that are looking at those two links, you want to scroll down to post #8 on both of them.

I'd like to hear how you got your used iP4000.

And what are your re-inking plans?

The thrift stores are just too close for some one with a Canon obsession.

Because of this forum I am now completely out of storage space. LOL

Ink?
I would like to try some of the smudge proof black Inktec ink you were talking about.
I will need ink for a few Canon printers. LOL
