If printing on CD/DVD's is a priority, then make your selection based on what http://damnprinter.com/ has cracked for use in the USA. If you are outside the USA then Canon printers come ready to print on disks without further fiddling. Since the MG5220 and MG6120 have been cracked to print on disks, it is quite possible the MG6220 will be as well in the future, but you never know.
Otherwise, the MG6220 seems like a good printer, but it's your call if you like it or not. Once you swap chips with 220/221 cartridges, purchase a chip resetter, and buy quality refill inks - gray ink is available from your fav Precision Colors - then you should be good to go. You'll also make mom happy using the printer she proudly bought for you. Double bonus!
