right, sorted, yippee.

i thought i'd try one more possible solution i found online before the last recommended method...

first i mixed 50/50 windolene and water and soaked the printhead for about 16 hours. every few hours i took it out and ran it under the warm water for a while then put it back in. after the 16 hours i warmed up some bottled water slightly, lay some kitchen paper towel in a shallow tray and poured some of the water onto it to soak it. i placed the printhead onto it and poured the rest over it. again i left it on the paper for about 6 hours, every now and then i'd slightly and gently rock it side to side which gently pushed some of the water up through the slots and i could still see some ink from the magenta and large black pad coming through after all those hours. i dabbed some tissue onto it to suck this up. i lastly ran it again under warm water a few times and set to dry. it now works fine.

what a load of hassle.

thanks for the help guys
