It was not mean in a "bad" way, since maintenance for "Pro" equipment is essential to keep it working

The fact is just that even Canon states that their printhead are just basically wearing parts such as car-tires or other expendable parts that wear of due to mechanical deterioration.

Since the Canon IP4000 is "end of life" there are no longer being print heads produced for the unit, all stock that is left Worldwide will be selling for fancy numbers with NO relation to even BRAND NEW printers, since you can pick up a ip7250 for 70 EUR INCL a full set of cartridges

Even for the most Epson Printers, if the printhead is REALLY mechanical Death due to massive clogs or electronical failure, the cost for only a printhead is basically a economical total loss since its in NO relation the the inital cost buying a brand new printer incl. the 1 year warranty, inks and stuff

same goes for lets say Cars, even a small replacement parts from OEM is very expensive
often parts cant be repaired at all its often a complete module that has to be replaced.

with Canon printers there is often a issue with "weiterfressender Mangel" that a bad printhead will damage the PCB and a fresh installed printhead will also get damagend instantly
