But replacing a Canon print head is always risky. A defective print head can but does not always damage the logic board. A logic board damaged in this way can damage a new print head.

In my opinion swapping print heads between printers for testing or troubleshooting is a very bad idea. Hopefully the bad print heads didn't damage the logic board in the printer that was OK.

Ok, I get that, but how can one troubleshoot a printing problem if you don't know if it is the logic board or the printhead?
Throw out both?

Is this ridiculous problem still present with the current printers or did someone come up with a redesigned logic board and/or printhead that doesn't take the other one out? if so, what cart/tank series?

Like a already stated, sorry that I missed some of the points, but there were a lot of points to digest and the situation involved multiple items. :hide
