however I share my experience: I do use 3rd party inks simply because the cost of OEM ones are insane unless you sell your prints, and you do so for very high prices.
But I learned a lot and I handle colors and media decently, never been a gamut peeper btw (term migrated from pixel peepers in photography).
I believe that print on non optimal substrates with non optimal inks but obtaining decent or nice results is satisfying almost (if not more for some people) the same of printing with top paper and inks.
But hey, I'm the kind of guy who would print even on toilet or kitchen paper
Nonetheless to say that I also feel the vibe for a fakin well done photo fresh printed at best not having so much market for them sadly, people is stupid and not understand quality most of the times they want only to save
