Gday all. This morning I printed out our elecric bill & heard this squeek when the paper was being ejected from the printer after being printed. I set the printer to print some more pages & got my camera & I noticed the squeek was there this time almost every time the paper advanced.
Does anyone know how I can fix this? Maybe add some lube somewhere to the roller.
I've tried to upload the MP4 movie, it's quite small at 400kb but my hosting site Imgur strips the sound out & the direct upload to here from my computer tells me it's the wrong file type.
I have put the video with sound on my facilebook page & you can hear it there. Thanks:)

Hi Rodbam, I can’t see your video and hear your squeak, but no worries, its not going to kill your lovely printer, my one does the same from time to time and I just hit it a belt with my hand and it usually goes quiet the next time I turn it on.

It’s almost impossible to locate and find precisely where the sound is originating from, and most of the moving parts are plastic so oil is not the best thing to be introducing to your printer, just try to ignore it...
I make all sorts of mournful sounds when getting up and down from a chair too... :old

If you zip the 400 kB MP4 file I think the zip archive can be attached to your post. I don't have a facebook account so I cannot see your video.

I unzipped your file and watched the video. The noise seems to be related to the line feed. It is heard both when advancing the paper and when ejecting the paper.

In case you don't have the service manual one can be found here. See pages 1-19 and 1-20 for lubrication. I think position 2 might need lubrication.

The recommended lubricant is Floil KG107A which is difficult to find but can be bought from CRC Tasktron UK. I have successfully used a Molykote product EM-30L as a substitute, as I could not find the Floil grease. It is important that the grease used contains no silicone, as silicone can migrate and damage electric contact surfaces. The Molykote EM30L is safe for plastics and contains no silicone.

I don't know about the other lubricants in the service manual, if they can be found or substituted.

Thanks Peter & thanks for links:) While looking at the lubes you suggested I came across this product, Anti friction dry ptfe. It dries within 1 min & does not attract dust.

I wonder if this is worth a try if not I will order some Molycote EM30L as I can get that down here.
Now to get the sides & top of the printer off without breaking anything:)
Thanks again mate:)

Thanks The Hat:) I bit the bullet yesterday & got the top off. It seemed really daunting but following the instructions it came off easier than I thought.
I've marked where I think I might lube which is anywhere there seems to be a bearing, like where rollers are supported by the body.
Can you see in my shots where I have marked where I shouldn't give a little lube?

I've put some lube everywhere I had the red arrows above & there's still some squeaking. Might do it again next week. The squeak seems worse when printing A4 rear feed but with A3+ I only hear the squeak when the print has finished & the print is being ejected.

@rodbam, are you sure you don’t have a Feckin mouse in there...:D
Your machine is working perfectly so why not leave it alone, and squeaks are notorious are hiding the whereabouts...:hu
