Should Pro 100 be left "on" or shut off after each use?

Hi Again,
Okay, I see what it is. What does one do with the purged ink? Can it be used in the refill process? I'm going to look into Amazon and eBay but if they don't have them, where can I get one? Sorry to be such a PITA, but thanks for you info.

I am also interested, followed the link, and got this message relating to the Pro-100. Guess we will have to be patient. Would be very careful to use a reliable source for this product. Octoink meets that criteria.

Hi Turbgy: I'm new to the world of high end printers. Could you please tell me what a "printer potties" is?
Thanks.
A PRO-100 is NOT a high end printer, IMO. It's not even CLOSE to "professional:.. Particularly when you pick them up for $50 or less. It's a consumer desktop printer.

A high-end printer will have:

-An internal hard drive
-Roll feed
-Automatic paper cutting
-24" or greater printing width
-Paper handling that includes a vacuum system to hold the paper flat
-User-replaceable Waste ink tanks ("printer potties")
-Nozzle operability testing/confirmation and possible re-mapping
-A floor stand

If you get them for 50$ or less sure, but if you get them for 10x more than normal retail price doubtful.

My first printer was a Canon BJ?-600. No computer maintenance interface, you did cleanings, etc., with buttons on the unit. A LONG time ago.

I almost never have shut my printers off. Oh, sure, when I know it will be a long while or something, but otherwise, not.

My printers never wake up and do any kinda boogie while on standby. Doesn't matter how long, never. I think I saw a spec that standby typically draws 1 W of power.

So unless the PRO-100 is radically different that all the Canons of the last 15? years, don't sweat it.

A printer potty is what it says it is, it collects waste from your purge unit every time you or your printer does some cleaning maintenance, I would recommend one to all Canon Pro users.

Here’s what they look like before installation.. View attachment 2217
The website specifically says for Epson. Yes, I may have missed something.

And that makes sense, since Epsons are notoriously for high ink consumption in starting and cleaning cycles.

Something got lost in the translation...and it's less than $50 to my door, WITH 50 sheets of great paper!!

Yes that’s correct but there’s no reason why Canon owners can’t also avail of this great invention, in the long run they do save you money and that's what it’s all about isn’t it. :)
:bow P.S. I once taught that too till I tried one out for myself.. :love

Do you know what "pedantic" means?

He's obviously talking about at the consumer level. Jeez/

Epsons need something like this, most Canon users don't. As I noted, Epsons are notorious for using lots of ink on startups and cleaning. Most owners, at least of Canons, will never need to replace the ink dump. And it's not all that hard when needed.
