@PeterBJ thank you for sharing all these findings.

I'm searching for a service manual or any kind of parts list with illustrations for
- HP B9180 or HP B8850
Are there any HP users around here? HP service papers seems to be very rare, I'm now searching long ago..

Doing a troll for any newer Service tools I came across this one,
Service tool 0006v4620.exe Dated 16-12-14.

But here again this service tool is only available at a Canon Service Centre, who have the correct SIP tool certificate.

I have a sip tool v 0.1.0.0 it was in the same folder as service tool v1050, but this seems much older than v 1.2. I don't know the purpose of the sip tool or how to use it.

Without reading too much into your problem and start to get technical, it sounds like your logic board has the problem, now maybe a firmware upgrade/downgrade may help, but unless you can do a rewrite to the EPROM chip then it’s game over, my money is on the EPROM chip been corrupted... :(

- I think the firmware is written into the EEPROM, isn't it? And updating would mean "flashing" this "read only chip", I guess.. Well, updating I've tried already, ending wtih the message like "FW was latest already"... but I will try again.
Maybe I really need a service program. Or manual. Both seems to be non existing in the web..?!

There are only two ways round the EPROM, one is to downgrade back to an earlier firmware or expose the EPROM chip to a UV light source for a little while, blanking it, and reload the firmware...

Thanks for the link, I asked them for sensors already... only the shipping to europe would cost 60usd, more than my both HP's in all.
Besides they say, these documents are "..not a service manual for technical repair..."
