@martinOreg
The new resetter produces a green light on the three carts mentioned before.
This was not the case with my older resetters. Just red no green lights
I have driver version 9,33 and firmware vP030D8+
LFP Remote Panel informs that this is the latest update.

That's great Harry. Glad to hear every is back to normal. To continue keeping it normal please don't ever consider updating that firmware.

(body with a guide to fit on the cart)

Those two resetters are the two main ones available. I have them both and the first one will have problems on 3800 and 3880 IF the firmware has be come updated. I can still reset ALL colors with the early one with the alignment receptacle. However I am 100% sure that if I update my 3800"s firmware, that will no longer be the case.

I've take carts of the three colors mentioned from people who were experiencing problems and successfully reset them with my older resetter and they worked on both of my 3800s then I returned them to the original owners and they also were able to used them on their 3880.
So can ANYONE explain what's going on here????

I will be posting a video tonight on resetting, weighing and topping off these modded carts so other can view how awesome this whole process of being able to use OEM carts for out own refilling is.

Joe:
Is the Firmware update on the Pro 3880, as in the LFP Remote Panel 2, to be applied by the user or an automatic matter?

Just for the record:

I have two resetters for epson a4 printers,
- for r800 / t054x an old one, on the instruction paper it's called "QE 368 ink level resetter system". On the logic board you can read "SZ97836B Resetor 01", no "QE-xxx" here.
- for r285 / t080x a newer one, without instruction paper, on the board you can read "11-06-14 QE868".

I have bought these to override the ARC's of refillable carts and they work mostly fine. But sometimes one would turn red, no chance to get green, then I try the other, it might turn green, if not I try again the first, and then it finally resets to green... No idea what is going on - but it seems to be possible to irritate a resetter (or the communication with a certain cart), which then seems to be not able to reset, but after some repeating and switching it may be able to reset again..

- my first 3800/3880 resetter is called "WT-080" ("WT-3800E" on the package) but on the instruction paper there is no model 3800/3880 to find. Logic board: "resetor B500 / rev B" (no QE-xxx there..!). Trouble with LK LLK VM.
- my second has no label or paper, even the package is white.
Logic board reads: "QE HRYHJ"

Now I would like to see the logic board of the "QE-589" resetter ... if it reads the same as my second resetter..

PS: "direct fineart" seems to offer maintenance and cartridge resetter as different (on ebay)... who knows if these are really different..?!
My (second) has reset both ink and maintenance!

PPS: regarding firmware update: I once took the risk and clicked on "firmware update" (in the menu and in LFP) just to see what happens: to update I would have to click through following steps - which I certainly cancelled. I did not find any settings for auto-update of firmware.
But note that I don't have the newest firmware or driver installed..

@martin0reg,
- I have like you, a resetter with a check next to WT-3800E on the package. But this will also not reset LK, LLK and Vivid LM,
- then my new resetter called QE 589 Chip resetter which resets all 9 chips of the Pro 3880 to full.
I opened the QE 589 and took a picture of its logo board.

Harry I have that resetter it is marked QE 589 I need to open it and see whether it has the same logic board. But I have to tell that this is the one I purchased from a site on Pompano Beach Florida!
Didn't you get that one as well?

I've tried to reset some of my Empty no longer resettable by my resetters and it did not reset so the printer would accept it. Oh well.
At least I do have 5 fully reset sets of carts all modified and ready to be filled.

Yup! The same identical logic board.
I paid only $39 for it!
