Well, I looked all over inside the printer but could not find anything that looked like the foam. I discovered that the waste ink foam at the bottom of the printer fairly empty. This means the printer is still pretty young. But the real problem is it refuses to power on and stay on. If I press the power button for a second or shorter it will blink once then goes off. If I press and hold the button the it will do everything that looks like a normal power up sequence. But it will power off again after it finishes priming the print head. Trigger 37, do you have any idea why it is doing that? I am tempted to take it apart to investigate the printer. I know C80 is a low end printer but it is a decent printer in printing fade resisting photos in slow pace. I don't think it is used as a photo printer here but its pigmented ink makes it a totally different printer from all other dye based ink printers.

Tin Ho,.. According to the Service Manuals I have, which are the C60, C64, C84, etc. If your power light came on and the printer did the basic diagnontics, and then the green light went out, this is possible a "Fatal Error". Is your printer connected to a PC. YOu should get some kind of error message there. If not, here are some others.

!. Green light OFF,.. Red paper light and ink light flashing alternately = Paper is jamming the printhead from moving.
2. Green light OFF,.. Red paper light and ink light flashing together = Internal printer error = take it to a dealer.

They have one other suggestion and that is to do a printer check. Turn the printer OFF. Unplug the USB interface cable.
Hold down the "Paper feed" button and press and release the power button until the power light begins to flash then release the Paper feed button. The printer should attemp to print a diagnostic page. If it does not print, you have other problems.

If it tried to go through all the steps to print, the logic is probably working and there is something jamming the printhead from moving, like a locked up purge unit. At that point you can start taking it apart.
