replace scanner unit

I opened to replace ink absorber pad. Now how to close? There is an arm preventing the scanner unit from lowering.

Which printer model are you trying to repair? Canon MP980? The Service manual might be of some help.

It looks like a free download of the service manual is no longer available, but a servive manual + parts catalog can be downloaded here for 5$.
