Greetings,
When refilling the reservoirs of a CISS, do I need to re-balance the air pressure (you know, lay it flat and rock) or just add ink and go? System came with no instructions...Thanks.

It’s very simple, just top up each reservoir with ink as they become low, there is no need to do anything else, good luck with your CISS…;)

The CISS ink flow depend on the Mariotte's bottle or (mariotte's principle for fluids ) so the small reservoir must be empty, only 1cm ink level to function normally , you can watch this site https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mariotte's_bottle. if both reservoirs are of same ink level .ink will not flow smoothly and with same pressure because you cancel the effect of the atmospheric pressure. thank you

akramjef is correct.

You should rebalance. If not, ink will tend to siphon into the heads until it uses up enough ink to rebalance it.

I used a ciss and a waste ink tank on an Epson 1400 for over two years with almost zero problems. When that printer finally gave up I hooked up a second 1400 forgot to unpinch the clips that you use when first starting and ruined it running the head dry. After cussing myself out I started again with another printer, another Epson Artisan 725 and switched to refillable flip top cartridges. This one is still in use after several years. I want to point out that despite the goof ups I still saved enough money using the refill methods to buy 50 or more printers. I had the printers in my closet that I bought when they were on sale and dirt cheap. I also want to note that I sacrificed nothing at all that I could see in quality of my full color borderless prints and after 10 years I still see no fading.

Yes, that will work for an Epson printer, but please don’t try a CISS on the Canon printers, unless you got a closet full of them...:D
