Hey all! Somebody stop me before it is too late....

Fry's has the referb IP3000's for sale for $49.99 (no rebate needed). Last time this happened I got a few of the i560's and sold the ink on ebay and ended up with almost free printers.

Just so very tempting!!!

What FRUSTRATION!!! Fry's always seems to have great deals on good stuff and all I have around here is Circuit City and (Not the) BestBuy. Even though I'm now eaten up with envy I say go for it and get a bunch of them. I bought a couple last summer online and they are great little printers. I didn't expect them to be even close to my iP4000, but I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the output. Without knowing in advance which machine printed identical photos it would be impossible for me to say which photo came from either printer.

ahhh decisions decisions.....

Dare I mention I've already got the following:

An MP750 (main printer)
My trusty ol' i860 (for which I pulled the print head to put into my MP750)
About THREE i560's

oh, and my HP Laserjet 4+ and Laserjet 6P

It's hard to pass up a good deal, but the fact that the new Canon printers have chipped cartridges makes this even that much more tempting.

Grandad, fotofreek, panos, etc... what do you guys think???? (I know what my wife thinks! :D)

My problem, Nifty, is I usually think --- and think --- and think about such a purchase, and by the time I decide to do it the products are all sold out! That's what happened when I finally decided to buy two ip4000 (new) printers when Staples had them last month for $100 with a $50 rebate. I did pick up an ip5000 for my wife and another one to put on the shelf as a refillable spare last week on a $100 closeout at Staples. Got the last one at each of two Staples stores. Hey, if the ip3000's produce decent prints, go for it! BTW, I would bet that the aftermarket ink mfgrs/vendors will have the new pixma carts and inks available very soon. We're just hedging our bets until this generation of new pixmas go on the closeout table and refill carts/inks become available.

Too late. I already got them all... Just kidding. Is there any ip4000 or ip5000 there? Just need one decent text as well as photo printer for my daughter. I bet if I wait for anotber week there will be plenty of them. Canon seems very good in selling refurbished printers. Somehow they can't sell them as new so they sell them as refurbished especially during year end holidays. They are quite qood in that. I have had a hard time to get a new ip4200 because they never give any good incentives or sales. I believe I only need to wait and they will come out as refurbished soon.

By the way, I remember refurbished ip3000 at Fry's a few months ago was priced at $29. The price probably won't go that low again until next year.

The IP3000 is now difficult to obtain in Australia. I have found the series that take 1 black and 3 colours a very robust allround printer. I have 3 MP730 machines and 1 spare MP730 and 2 functioning IP3000. Before the IP3000 ran out I bought 4 more and they are still in their boxes. I bought them for the same amount it would cost for a replacement printhead.

they all take the same printhead and the 1 black and three colour unchipped cartridges that are easy to refill.

Until someone can work out the chipped cartridges I am not changing for sometime.

If you want a new ip5000, check at all the nearby Staples stores. The two stores that had them didn't have a demo on the display shelf and they simply had these new printers in their sealed factory boxes stored under the display area. I don't think many customers had any idea that they were there or what value they were passing up at $100 per printer. Especially since they had $60 dollars worth of ink in them alone!

Staples had the IP4000 for $50 about 2 weeks ago. They still had some around the store and some demo models that they were clearing out.

I visited one and called many Staples stores and found none. I was aware of the deal at Staples but had no luck in finding one. Ip5000 at $100 is a little pricy for me. Ip4200 at Fry's after a $30 rebate was $99. I will wait for the price to come down some more at Fry's.
