Hi,

I'm using HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 5525 (4 colours - black pigments and colours dye) and seeking for refill ink. I am going to refill the OEM ink cartridges. However, I am wondering about the ink. Could anyone give suggestions for me? What ink/ink brand/ink suppliers is good?

I went around yesterday and asked, all they have in here is Inktec/Inkmate,"china" ink for Epson. Haven't found one for HP/Canon. It seems that they don't import refill ink for HP and Canon, though.

Location: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

What ink cartridge does it use? HP 564? I like InkTec. OCP is also good, but I haven't tried it yet. Do NOT use ink for Epson. It's a different type. You need to get the right ink for your printer.

It uses HP 685 - A mix and modified version of HP 564 and 564XL: HP 685 Black is of XL, HP 685 colours are of non-XL!

Unfortunately, in Vietnam there's only InkTec for Epson since the number of people using CISS for HP/Canon is too few that companies don't wanna import ink! I will have to ship InkTec from oversea - total cost of ink and shipping taxes would be similar to the OEM cartridges!! Haizz...

Inktec is not chinese... http://www.inktec.com/english/about_inktec/company.asp A friend uses it on a Canon Pixma ip3600 and it's excelent. You will need profiles for it, the colors are not very close to the originals, at least not for the ip3600.

Do not use Inkmate, it's a cheap solution and not worth it.

Disaster happen. I refilled with Inktec for Epson (will never buy ink in that store anymore, lying...) and my yellow nozzles started printing with streak, CMK is still fine - lucky me. Now it's nearly blank printing. Maybe ink clogged in the printhead?? What to do next? I'm soaking the printhead with toilet paper and alcohol 90%. The printhead is non-removable so I can't remove it. Have to do it while it's inside the printer.

I'm going to buy ink for HP/Canon, although it's now Inktec, but Inkmate - the only choice here...

As the inks are water based, alcohol alone is not a good printhead cleaner. Strong alcohol absorbs water and could actually make things worse. Much better is 20% alcohol in distilled or demineralized water. Also recommended for print head cleaning is a window cleaner with ammonia or you could try pharmacist's cleaning solution: http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=38818#p38818 . Instead of "(or 2 % glycerol)" read "(or 2 ml glycerol)", and glycerol might be better known as glycerine. Sprinkler fluid for cars might also work well as a print head cleaner.

Like your printer Epson printers have print heads that are not removable, and your procedure looks similar to what the Epson owners use, so maybe you could find some inspiration in the Epson forum?
