Purge pads on iP3500

I have an old IP3000 sitting around the shed, I can rip out the pads stick them in an airmail envelope and send them to you, cost --nothing, just send an email with your address and they will be on the way.

Some one needs to check the size of an iP3500 pigment black side plastic park pad.
It is possible it is a different size than the iP3000, iP4000, and iP4200 I measured.

Canon did not try to be consistent when sizing these plastic park pads.
To confuse maters Canon used a different size black plastic park pad in the i560 and iP3000 even though the print head is interchangeable.

The color side plastic park pad in the i560 and iP3000 is the same but different from the color pad in the iP4000 and iP4200.

Thanks Ron. I wrongly thought that they would all be a standard size. I am getting one from Australia from a forum member who kindly offered it to me from an older iP3000. I will post again on receipt to confirm size. Is there a supplier anywhere for these? A neighbours pad from an i865 is the correct size for the iP3500.

Just received pads from a Forum member in Australia. What a great site. All up and running perfectly with no help from Canon who are just not not replying to any of my e-mails other than to acknowledge them. How on earth do they expect to keep customers if their service is as dismal as this.

Is it possible to redivert the tubing draining the purging ink into the sponges to an external bottle as with Epson printers ? Wouldn't this be a better solution on the long term instead of replacing the absorption pads time after time.

Hello pharmacist.
Thanks for your suggestion. A very good idea but I think we are talking about the wrong pads. The ones I am refering to are the two pads above the purge unit which sit in rubber lined trays on which the print head parks. These can be seen when the cover is opened and the head moves to a central position. I have called them "Pads" but am unsure as to their correct label. They are made of a hard but porus plastic and it was the left hand one which is designed to sit under the black pigment nozzle at the park position That was missing on my printer. Not having had any full pad problem which I believe occurs following frequent or long time purging I have not yet explored possibilities for diverting the purged inks. Your suggestion is however well worth keeping on file for the future.

I know it's going off topic but it would be possible to do this but does require the printer owner to drill holes in the case and also have some specialised connectors, tubing, etc... to handle the redirect.

This is one of those cases where the bag kits I sell for Epsons are actually perfect for the job, as the low profile nature of the bag makes it easy to keep it below the printhead level.

It may also be possible to re-use the pigment black if you redirect the appropriate tube to a separate container but I'm not entirely sure how wise such recycling would be, given the level of clumped particles, dust, etc... that would probably come with the waste.

Spotted someone has followed this thread over to OctoInk... Just to update that I do have a lot of photos of the process of installing a waste ink tank on a Canon iP4200... Just need to write them up and put them online.

Hi guys, sorry to drag up a old thread, but i have the same issue as the original poster. Ihave a ip3600 and the long purge pad has gone missing. I was wondering if anybody would be askind to send me a spare one if they have it? I am happy to pay if required (via paypal etc) . Any help would be much appreciated!!

Have a look on Ebay. Dead printers are often offered cheaply. I know it's a relatively expensive way of getting such a small part but it may be your only option.
