Problem with specific color streaking from a possible damaged printhead

I seem to have a problem with magenta over the other two (cyan & yellow). Using test pages of the three colors and black magenta seems to glog the worst.

This is with 2 different refillable carts and different printheads. The printer is a ip4300 with CLI & PGI carts.

I've done multiple flushes using a cleaning solution and under the faucet (warm water) when a clog develops, but neither seems to help.

Here is the question as it relates to the printhead:

Can running multiple test prints at the fine (best) setting of a single color damage the printhead from excessive heat buildup? This was a brand new printhead!

The ink I was using was somewhat older (not sure by how much) so I bought new ink from Precision Colors but magenta still has problems.

Please post a nozzle check print to start with . Did you ever replaced the printhead in the past ?

The nozzle check surprisingly shows good.
I just replaced the printhead again. The last one lasted 5 months but one of the other colors failed, not magenta that time.

What brought all of this on was tiring to purge existing old ink out of the tanks (I have 2 sets, one in the printer, the other as a spare set already filled) so I could start fresh. Before the purge, magenta printed fine.

I'm considering throwing in my hat, but after reading all the problems with these current printers I don't now. I have a lot invested ($$ and time) with the ip4300 including 3 spare printers. It's the damn printheads that are the problem. These so called 're-manufactured' ones all seem to be bad OOTB.

The only thing I havent done is to use a spare new set of carts with the assumption of bad sponges, but I kinda doubt that since there has been no pattern there with a single color. Everything seems to point to the printhead.

Canon printheads cannot be repaired and have a limited life, forget refurbished printheads and get an up-to-date printer model - those IP4300 are history.

Considering that you say the nozzle check is good, that photo shows the typical effects of bad inkflow ( also called ink starving), on the magenta channel. It can be a cartridge problem (sponge clogged with dried ink) or the ink itself being in bad shape. As you say its 'a bit' old.
In all likelihood, a new original Canon cartridge would solve the problem.

I have new ink in there now with the same problem. Magenta was fine before I emptied out that cart and flushed it several times by printing a page of magenta.

Yes it can..

You have been asked to provide us with a nozzle check for each of your usable print heads, and when you do, then we will tell you what you don’t want to head, maybe I’m been a bit presumptuous, but we’ll see..

Your requirements are not clear - do you just need a printer ? or a combo model ? What are you mainly printing ? And how much ? Are photo prints of any interest ?

If you want to go easy with refill you may have a look to the Canon Megatank printers - the G-XXXX models - 4 inks , and you would have a choice of alternate ink options - OEM or 3rd party.

As I stated, the test patterns test good.

As to requirements; printer only, mostly text, color web pages & .pdf's, very few if any photos.
