Problem with Photo Cyan ink cartridge pulling through - Canon Pixma Pro 10s

Concerning the banding, I observed it today on 2 A3 prints.
With 3th party and OEM grey ink, setting Platinum High quality borderless.
It is at the left 2-3 cm of the picture, so at the end of the print, and most on the last cm.
Both dark green backgrounds.
Not very visible but it is there.

Think it is the paper transport. Did a roller cleaning but no avail.

Probably the reason why Fine Art imposes a 3cm border.

PS: Borut, did you buy an Epson P900 ? (the only really new information I got yesterday evening )

What do you think guys about Mike's advice of using always 'Fine Art' settings in the Pro10 if we want the best quality with those papers ?. The hack of using matte ink in a photo black cartridge is of no use then..

While experimenting with inks on the PRO-10 and the PRO-9500II I must agree with most of what Mike told.

There are indeed different "programs" behind the driver settings, each with a maximum ink debit.

As he mentioned, some Fine Art papers require more ink, so you never could lay the same amount with other settings.
I already experienced this with the 9500, Fine Art Matte gives deeper blacks than "normal" Matte settings with the MBK/PBK trick, but with other "normal" paper settings I obtained good result (should read again my own thread and do the same tests on the PRO-10).

Mike's message was that the Fine Art settings (including the 30mm border - was 35 in the 9500) are a trick to circumvent some technical limitations of the printer.
His observation most 3th party inks (not his of coarse ) are sufficient for casual printing is correct IMO, as far as the image is not extremely demanding, with profiling an ink set with lesser gamut will produce the same result.

That's why you can enhance an ink set a lot by selectively replacing certain colours (as PBK for the Octoinkjet set and R for PC).

I use as a must hack in q image and you can print normal no borders whit MK ink.I do never print on matte media whit PK ink

I dont now why but....
If i print on glossy media whit matt paper seting..there is no banding...but only CO is set Off in this option...
so is there some miss whit non OEM CO? Or is a driver Bug?

So you really can print with Fine Art settings (= using MBK) borderless with Qimage ?

yes.
In Qimage you set fine art paper...not in driver!
Set format A4 or other not in driver!
Set your custom profile or OEM if you are on oem inks
hit print and wait.
then you get warning message
hit cancel print in q image not on driver whit right click on your mouse
confirm windows hack and wait abaut 10 sec or less or more.
when printing runs you will not see printers status monitor!
So "Ruck OFF" Canon whit your 30 margins

After downloading the demo version of Qimage. I tried to simulate a non-borders printing with Fine Art settings. It didn’t work or, at least, I couldn’t get it to work. Either the demo version is trimmed of this feature or I’m doing something wrong.
When Canon’s driver shows a warning message about wrong settings and I click the right button of the mouse in Qimage, as you say, it appears a submenu for managing printing jobs but none of the options is for canceling the print, only for selecting/deselecting, moving back, add, etc. If I choose to deselect or remove the current job, printing simply stops and that’s all.

you need to click whit right button icon cancel print in q image next to icon print in q image not just somewhere!

Thanks again @Borut. I finally found it.

To be precise, you have to right click with the mouse on the icon located on the top right side of the screen (the one with a printer and a superimposed red X ) Then, in the emerging pop-up screen, allow ‘windows command processor’ make changes in the device (or something like that )
The error message of the driver disappears, Apparently, the print job has been cancelled, except that the Pro10 feeds the sheet of paper and starts to print. Bingo !
