The above is a similar issue. Same R2880 models but different machines, inks, profiles etc. same however the output was different.

Now Epson apparently used to provide a utlity to allow the user to recalibrate a bit, There is some variance apparently from the factory but how much is allowable we don't know. The Pro line is supposed to be trimmed in the factory just like wide formats.

The Epson 3800 I recall uses pigment inks and that maybe the cause of the unusual output.

Try running the agitation cycle on the inks on both machines first then print one or two test strips and try printing the photos again !

Are the inks in the old printer in date ? been open a long time ? Has the paper been sealed the whole time ?

Are you printing 2 different images there, and by that i do not mean 2 different pictures i mean the same picture saved twice on your computer. One is saved in a non compressed or low compressed format such as .raw or .bmp and the other is a lossy format such as a .jpeg because zooming in thats what it looks like to me.
