Speaking of used a PRO-10...not the 10S but a PRO-10.

I am so trying not to buy it lol...

https://www.ebay.com/itm/254856075418

The shipping is holding me back...both the price and the printer not being properly setup by the seller before shipping. I could imagine it not ending well once it arrives.
Already 500 USD ?
Better than bitcoin :D.

Nah, went for $190.50...that 500 one is the good old "we found something similar for you one".

Either way I didn't go for it. I'll just keep my eye out on Craigslist for something local-ish.

My math in €:
New printer 600 - set of inks 100 = 500
- spare printhead 150 = 350 (you never know it will fail the next day)
Second hand /2 = 175.

So with luck it will cost you 175+100+25 travel cost/shipping = 300, half of new price.
Without luck 475-500.

Maybe the question is, why Canon USA did it?. At some point, they were giving the Pro100 practically for free, considering the cost of the bonus paper shipped with the machine.
Whatever the reasons, those rebates are now a thing of the past.

Strange enough people find 500-600 $/€ expensive for a photo printer, while such a price for a camera body or lens is considered cheap ;).

Only for locals I am afraid, shipping of this 20kg+ beast is prohibitive (and risky).

Patience, sooner or later these printers will leave the dust. Even if it hasn't been used since long, if you can buy it cheap all what you risk is a new printhead.

Probably marketing, following are just suppositions

- Making photographers migrate from "E" brand or previous generation products
- Helping to sell the cartridges increasing the pro10 printer userbase
- Adding some ink and paper showing the quality of the products to them probably isn't very costly but is very pleasing to the customer that likely doesn't still know how to print and some free ink and paper is golden to learn and remain faithful to the brand. I would have done the same!
- Sadly is something more easy to do in a big market like US instead of Europe that is big but divided in too much sub markets :(
