What adaptations did you make for pro 10?
Replacing with OEM ink, starting with the magenta you reported issues with last year ;).
I must say that, except for occasional banding with grey, I had no further problems with the octoink ink.
But, as Martin (@websnail) suggests himself, OEM photo black is better than his.
Also is the red, as even Precision Colors (@mikling) admits. And the CO.
Then already half the colors have been replaced...

I still must see any difference with C,PC,PM and MBK (I seldom need the latter), so some gains remain.

Compared to buying OEM 14ml carts IMO the largest gain is made by avoiding the repetitive flushes (called the domino effect by @The Hat ) when replacing carts one by one. When topping up a set of carts, even the ones where the chip shows empty need maximum 10ml (instead of 14) and some just 2 or 3, so you go a long way with even a 38ml PRO-1 cart.
OEM ink in larger carts costs less per ml, but for other than PRO-1 you need custom profiles.

Hi!
I found this post after searching for a solution with weird behaviour from Octoink Magenta on nozzle checks on my Canon Pro 10s. I had a very similar experience to yours @palombian. I ran a nozzlecheck after getting banding after about 30 or so A3+ prints. And it was identical to Palombians posted nozzlecheck. After 2 light and 7 deep cleans the nozzleprint was back to normal again. I reckoned i should write it down here since it was such a similar experience.

I'm glad you fixed the issue. :)
I bet that. from now on, everytime you run a nozzle test you inspect very carefully the magenta band. :D
My experience was very similar to yours and @palombian's with that magenta ink.
Switching to another supplier solved my problem at once.

P.S.
Seven deep cleans !. I hope you didn't run them one after the other in a short period of time.
If you did that and the printhead is still OK. consider yourself very lucky

I will be joining the Pro 10 school class very soon, that is when I get all the paraphernalia together needed to make successful prints, and I’ll be using this controversial magenta ink too, but mine is at least 10 year old but I’m still hoping it will work without any issues.. I will be using PGl-9 carts too…

I am also thinking of using the Maxify bottle ink in some of the carts later..

Lucky boy, that’s usually enough cleaning to have kill most print heads, next time concentrate on your carts instead of the head, because that’s where the trouble is most likely to be....

Thanks to @Osterlinder we learned that Pro-10 printheads must be very tough, if they can survive such ruthless 'torture test'. :D

@The Hat , I don't know if it's a good idea to use Maxify ink on a Pro10. Anyway, feel free to experiment and report back. For your peace of mind, new printheads are still widely available from reputable vendors. :p

First of all the ink must be safe for the printhead (no clogging), second consideration is ink flow (no banding), and last is color accuracy (since it can be solved by profiling).
The Magenta issue seems to be solvable by thorough cleaning of the cart (a week or longer).

When you live in the States or Canada I wouldn't hesitate and buy Precision Colors.

Otherwise, the best you can do is combine some inks depending on your location and the cost of ink and shipping.

I suppose Octoink has the shipping and VAT solved now, it was good ink for the price at the time (except for M I emptied all the 125ml bottles without issues). Even if you replace M with PGI-29M and CO with PFI-1000CO and buy OEM PBK from him for some glossy papers you are still much cheaper than OEM.

I once bought PRO-9500 refill ink from Octopus-office.de but was disappointed, it is expensive too in small bottles.
So I am afraid there are no other suppliers for PRO-10 ink.

I never used PRO-9500 3th party inks in the PRO-10, but have no problem with the OEM Lucia (first generation large format and used by Canon also in the 9500).
Sadly enough they made a special ink set for the PRO-1 and PRO-10 (instead of using the Lucia EX from the next gen large format) so you need custom profiles if you go this way.
There are quite some differences, in particular the yellow and the red. Maybe because 12 ink large format has blue, but this color was dropped from Lucia in the 9500 too. Lucia EX has better gamut and gloss. Actual price per ml for 130ml carts PFI-106 is half of PGI-72 (123ink prices).

I’ll be in a position to try out some of these inks shortly, I even have a set of compatible HP pigment inks, not to mention the 123 inks and compatible carts that I got as extras with my new printer, I have also purchased a new print head, just to be safe, if I manage to bugger up the current one.
Anyway, feel free to experiment and report back.
I’m not afraid to experiment with anything, including different ink types, because it’s all part of the learning curve, if this printer can’t cut it, then I’ll go back to my 9500…

The only thing I’m short on are chips..:hu

I am pretty sure you will find out everything about the PRO-10 ;).

I had to transplant chips between different ink carts too (had 5 different inks for some colors at a certain moment).
I admit the magenta issue made me prudent, maybe it was an isolated event and not an indication the PRO-10 is picky in inks. Old inventory is almost emptied now.

With every new generation there is more know-how in the inks (you don't increase the gamut and gloss with hardware) so more difficult for 3th party to copy. Even Precision Colors only can replace 8 of the 12 PRO-1000 inks Although he made all 10 for the PRO-300 (really wonder why the PRO-1000 CO should be different than the PRO-10 or PRO-300 one, I do not see much difference between OEM CO and the PC one - think Jose Rodriguez praises OEM since he bought a 700ml cart ;) - other 3th party CO's are rather thin IMO).

In my experience large format inks work in the PRO-10, the 9500 and the Maxify, It makes the 9500 a better printer than designed (although the difference is also in the drivers).

No idea if it works the other way around but maybe it could technically (no clogs or banding) depending on the application.
