Hi,

I have my trusty old MP780 which i have fitted a CISS to a few years back.

Over the last couple of months, i noticed that i am not able to print out any word documents, but PDFs print ok.

Any suggestions as to what i should check?

Thanks

Are the word documents making it to the print queue? That is, if you right click on the printer icon in the notification tray and choose Open printers, do you see the print job in the queue?

Is the printer making the movements and sounds of printing and outputs a blank page, or just sits doing nothing?

Execute a nozzle check and see if all colors incl PGBK are present.

Its slightly obvious what your problem is you have no ink coming out of your PGBK nozzles.
Youll need to run a half dozen deep head cleans on the PGBK side of your print head and a couple on the colour side as well.

If as you say this is an ongoing problem that youve had for over a month now then you have probably cooked your print head
and will need a new one to get back to proper quality printing again..

On my Win7x64 system, Word maintains its own set of driver settings, separate from other programs. For example, if I print a document in Word and set it for legal paper, then print from Firefox, it remains set to letter. If I then print another document from Word, it remembers the "legal" setting.

This means that if you accidentally changed some setting in the driver (say to set the Intensity to zero) when printing from Word, that change would affect the output only when printing from Word (which seems to be your problem). Since you can print OK from other programs, it doesn't seem to be a printer problem. Can you reset the driver settings to "default" when printing from Word and see if that does anything?

BTW - that light Cyan nozzle check doesn't look right. The 7 vertical bands and single horizontal band look like an electrical problem in the head.
