yes i have stopped using pigment ink in the PGBK cartridge as i have replaced the pigment with dye ink, as i don't have an issue with smudging and i would just rather use 1 black ink. with that said after 4 or 5 refills i am starting to experience clogging of the PGBK area of the print head, thinking that it could be a bad OEM cartridge i put another OEM 220 that has been refilled with the same results. i have done 2 deep cleanings and 2 regular cleanings to no avail. all the other colors and nozzel checks are good, i am using precision colors ink which i have been using for years with no issues, what are the latest ideas for flushing a printhead. thank you

Not much has changed with respect to printhead unclogging in years, except for the potential use of "LA's fabulous cleaner" instead of Windex or Water.

It's not clear from your post, are you experiencing potential clogging on DYE K or PIGMENT K ink?

...and, how 'bout posting a nozzle check print?

Using dye ink in the PGBK cartridge usually works indefinitely but every so often the cartridge can get a bit stuffed up.
I would recommend you give your cartridge a good purge and drying and then give it another go.

Normal cleaning usually works for the PG black and a deep clean mostly just wastes ink thats all.

But have you taught that your problem might be with your purge unit and not the cartridges or print head,
did you check to see if water will first stand and then later drain off the pads, give it a try..:)

i will try to purge one cartridge before i attempt to flush the printhead, i do not think it is the purge unit as i would think all of the cartridges would act as being clogged here is the scan

Looks like a clog or starvation, or an unfunctional purge unit.

IF your printer has two purge (parking) pads, then it's quite possible that one purge unit is marginal (particularly pigment K, IMO).

just finished flushing the printhead with warm water, fitted a plastic tube over the inlet on the printhead and blew through air through the tube and flushed each color one at a time, used a can of compressed air to dry off the contacts and i am getting a perfect nozzle check, now we will see if this is a temporary fix hopefully not

Great! Keep us appraised as to the longevity of the "fix"!
