Printer stopped recognizing both cartriges

Hello Fellas. I'm new here. looks like a nice place.
I have a HP Pcs 1215 printer. After refilling both cartriges by myself, it shortly stopped working. I worked for a month or so (with refilled ink) and then printer stopped recognizing both cartriges completely. It simply says that i have a problem with a cartrige. When i try to reinstall either black or color cartrige - is says yet again that i have a problem with the cartrige and i need to reinstall.
I've cleaned the electric pins both on the cartriges and the printer and still the same problem.
In this epic story I don't now what to blame. Is is cartrige or printer problem? Suppose i buy a new cartriges, I'm afraid that it won't work.
Please help me out guys, what else can i do or check?

Clean all contacts, and if that does not help, buy the lower cost hp27 and 28 instead if the 57 and 56..it's worth a shot.

Or, If you know anyone with a printer who use these carts, try yours in their printer first....

As manuchau says and also you might want to try resetting these carts.
I have done this and it works....requires a little monkeying around, though
