Printer grease

I need to lubricate my ip3000 printers, one of which have begun to make squeaking sounds while printing. Does anyone know the correct grease to use for this, where to buy it, and the right way to go about doing it?

The appropriate grease is G-26 (dow 26) grease manufactured by Epson, the part # is E-B70260001. You want to use a very small ammount approximately 1/2 the size as the eraser of a #2 pencil. apply it to the top side of the rail and spread. you should just barely see the grease. Never use petroleum based oils in an epson printer. You can do more damage than good. Since I haven't been able to find this grease I been using for the past year paintball gun grease (dow33) on my Epson R1800 and R1900 with excellent results. I haven't found the Dow G26 grease by google anything, and I would like to know it it's PTFE or Silicone?

Just tested G-26 is not soluble in water or isopropyl alcohol, but it is soluble in white spirit paint thinner. So I don't think it's silicone grease.

Seems rather cheap compared for my G-26 from epson, I paid 2x more for 40grams.

There are 3 different lubricants for Epson 3880 (Service manual)
G-26 (Part code 1080614)
G-45 (Part code 1033657)
G-71 (Part code 1304682)

Do you know what kind of lubricants are these?

i bought the greases from epson certified service center. I don't know who makes them for epson.

Molykote HP 300 is nice but sold at least at 500gr at very astronomical prices.

Smile, I think G26 is oil, G71 is grase and G45 is between. Am I right?

I have been running the hell out of my Canon printers since 2004 and never once put a drop of lubricant on any of them, I reckon your better off leaving them to get on with it..

Same here. Not a touch of grease either.

Yesterday, some printer-engineer told me he uses two lubricants:
1. silicon grease
2. car automatic oil (he said the sewing-machine-oil is also well)

The printer needs G-26 grease, and O-14 oil. They are from EPSON. Different part number for different printers but they are the same grease and oil Epson use.

The grease is white PTFE teflon, the Oil is like silicone but it might be something else.
Best to get from local EPSON service center as nobody else will know what G-26 or O14 is. EPSON obviously hides true manufacturers of these.

I bet the Grease can be replaced by Molykote 870 / 100grams tube is 90Eur. Maybe Molycote rep. can help with compatible Oil for it too.
