Hello everyone,
in my photoclub we do Cyanotype prints on several occasion. We convert digital photos into negatives and print them on transparency film and do contact copies on cyanotype paper (under UV-light). This works quite well but our laser printer died.

Which printer can be recommended:
what we need: printing on transparency film in good quality bw-images (without striped and well defined greys). Since we do it on location the printer should be portable and toner not too expensive.

what we do not need: scanning, duplex, wlan, ultra fast printing

Any recommendations? What companies to look for?

regards
Lothar

I think the reason you got no response to your first post is that a Google search finds no portable laser printers. Only portable printers are inkjet printers and some handheld photo and label printers. If you search for compact laser printers you have better luck.
See this page from HP, scroll down to "2. What's the smallest laser printer?" Maybe the HP Laser Jet Pro M15w is what you are looking for.

I have a HP Laser MFP 135w. It is a printer-scanner-copier for home use. I think it is pretty good and it is not very heavy. Here are some examples of the print quality from a printed calendar magnified 50 and 220 times, click to enlarge.

Another good test image for the laser printer is printing an engineering paper with a millimetre grid. You find one from papersnake.com, choose the engineering paper grey.

BTW what brand and model was the failed printer? Maybe you can find something similar?

Hi,
You could have a look to the Pantum series of b&w laser printers, P2500 i.e. or BP2309, which are quite reasonably priced around 100€ and proposes toner cartridges around 40€.

They are compact and their weights , ~5kg, make them compatible with on location usages.
