Hello, My MP830 printer won't work with the ADF. I keep getting an error saying that there is a paper jam but there is NO paper anywhere in the paper path. I have cleaned and looked at everything but still the error persists. It scans perfect from the glass but it's a hassle when you have multiple pages. I even took it apart and I can see nothing stuck or broken in the ADF. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you in advance for your reply.

It sounds like the feed sensor on the ADF has been tripped and has not reset due to being bent broken or jammed.

If the sensor is working properly then try unplugging the printer from the power supply for 5 minutes and then retry the feeder again !

I Did the unplugging and replugging thing with no difference. When I insert the paper it pulls it in a little bit like it's getting ready to work but when I press the button to scan it does nothing and then I get the Paper jam error message saying to press the OK button to eject the page but there is NO JAM anywhere. I'm not sure where the feed sensor is but I'm going to try and blow air into the swithes that I can see and try again. Where approxamately is the sensor so I can make sure that I blow it out? Can I use WD40 on the gears? Thank you in advance for your reply.

As I have never owned an AIO Canon I wouldn’t have a clue where the sensors are actually located, but if it partially feeds in a sheet then your problem sensor could be on the exit and not at the entry point.

When you press the ok button does the sheet then get ejected from the feeder ?

Somebody with an AIO will be able to answer your questions as to where the sensors are located better than I can, sorry.

Keep WD40 away from your printer that stuff is no good for any part of your machine..

Normally gears do not have to be lubricated as they are "lubricated for life of the machine if required" certain gears do not need to be lubricated as they are made from special plastic like nylon.

The printers require special lubricant like G-26 for lubricating where the print head moves. G-26 is EPSON spare part grease number, you can use OIL-14 to make the grease more thin.

You can use same stuff all over the printer but it's quite expensive so that is why I use a OKS 470 grease for gears, and you can use OKS 701 Spray for gears too. Both are plastic safe.

But the only grease for printhead linear guides is G-26 from EPSON.
