PIXMA ip8720 printhead alignment sheet missing something

My PIXMA ip8720 printhead alignment print out sheet is missing a couple of blocks of ink in the 6th and 7th rows. I don't think this is normal -- is it? If not, what is wrong?

Are you also known a "brassman" on the Canon forum?

At the very end of this video by CanonUSA you can see the same "missing blocks" as you have. Since Canon does not mention a malfunction I am assuming the print out is correct.

Is there some other reason you think there is a problem? If printed images and text look proper, and the nozzle check is good, then you are probably fine.

Call Canon if you think there may be an issue.

@russell Here is an auto alignment sheet from a Canon Pixma iP4600. It is similar to your test sheet with some rectangles seemingly missing. All stripes are present in the nozzle check, so I think the "missing rectangles" are perfectly normal.

Thanks stratman. Yes - I am brassman. Anyway -- Nozzel checks are fine. Other reason; My "black and white" prints have blueish/cyanish tints in the darker gray areas which is why I considered the alignment was off. Not to mention the on-going magenta tints that many are dealing with. Thanks

PeterBJ - Thanks for this. Just doesn't 'seem' normal. Yeah, my nozzel checks are OK. I was verging on removing the print head and flushing it clean. Still left with an issue of blueish tints in darker gray areas.

My "black and white" prints have blueish/cyanish tints in the darker gray areas which is why I considered the alignment was off.

Unless you see fairly well defined demarcations of offset colors or streaks then this is not an alignment issue. Instead, the issue(s) may be due to choice of ink, paper, print driver / ICC printer profile, software, software setting choices, monitor calibration, etc.
