Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help? Im looking for a cheap (ish ) pigment ink printer, I’ll be using it to print decoupage sheets so im not looking for the best photo quality images just ink that doesn’t smear/run when dampened. A3 compatible would be a bonus but not essential.
Also I have an Epson ET 8550 and have read conflicting opinions as to wether this printer can run on pigment inks?

Thanks in advance

You can typically use pigment inks in dye printers and vice versa, but there’s plenty of variables that could cause issues or even break your hardware.

How well the ink settles to the paper has mostly to do with the paper/ink quality and type, not so much with the printer itself. Additionally you could coat your prints.

For the cheapest A3 pigment printer I would look on a used Epson stylus photo and get some refillable carts or CIS for it.
Alternatively if you want a new machine, search the forum as there are many posts that answer your requirement.

You can most certainly use Pigment/Dye in any printer, but only if it’s an Epson, Don’t try it with Canon printers..
