"Alaaf" or "Helau"

You better know what region you are in before saying that.

A very important regional distinction in Germany is the Carnival Salutation. Around Cologne this is “Alaaf”, and almost everywhere else it is “Helau”. One must be sure to never shout “Helau” in Cologne, or “Alaaf” in Mainz!

Oh yes - I knew that having been to both Karnevals in the past, and also seeing quite a few German guys keeing a close eye on their Frau on that day LOL. I lost my tie during the first year I visited Karneval!

I found this little guy tucked away on my tree just about my bird feeder this morning..
Some type of Sparrow Hawk I assume..
