I think @The Hat knows much more than I about this and might have a suggestion.
I have two of printers connect with a 25 metre run of USB cable and a powered hub in the middle without a hitch, (5 and a 10 cable) I haven’t tried 2 ten metre cables yet, but I’m sure it would work too, just as long as you use a powered hub as the boot strap…

A bit of OT here, sorry. But I'm not getting email notifications when there's some action here. I did check the boxes when I post a message.

@Paul W. you only get a notification to your post when a responder puts in your user name with the “@” in front of it, but so far all responders have failed to do this, a bunch of lazy sods, me included, sorry…:(
This might help to wake the folks here… ;)

I had a networked printer connected by an inexpensive 20 or 25 foot USB cable without any printing issues. I installed the Canon IJ Network Tool when I installed the printer.

I think the user account settings are a bit complicated, but I think you can get the mail notifications.

1 "Mouse over" your user name in the top right corner and click preferences in the drop down menu, click to enlarge:

2 A pop-up window opens. Check the items marked with arrows and you should now get the notifications, click to enlarge:

Even if it is a bit off topic, I think the question is relevant.

I got to the pop-up window... and the notification boxes were already checked. Strange....

It's the same for me - the boxes are checked but I don't get any notification emails regardless - I gave up on that.
