I was referring to the TC20M which is an inktank printer.
However although it is an inktank printer, the ink costs $65 / 70ml while pro-1000 ink costs $59 / 80ml...
That's a typical practice of Canon or Epson - the unit price of a megatank printer is higher than a comparable cartridge based model but the inks are cheaper - or the megatank unit price remains similar to a comparable cartridge type model but the inks are barely lower in price - as with the TA20 and TC20 models.

You might be able to use the pigment inks of the GX6050 instead and swap the inks over into the bottles for the TC-20, those GI-56 pigment inks run at a much lower price.

As notified above Canon is phasing out lower end Megatank printers with dye inks, Canon is apparently focussing more onto Megatank printers with pigment inks releasing new low end products - the GX1050 and GX2050

https://www.druckerchannel.de/artikel.php?ID=4896&t=canon_maxify_gx2050_und_gx1050

((use the Google translator or similar if necessary)

Canon is introducing new bottled pigment inks - the GI56 for the GX 2050 with 70 ml as before and the GI55 bottles with 50 ml for the colors for the GX1050 , Canon is overall reducing the yield here , Canon marketing probably assumes a rather low usage of these models. Both printers come with a user replaceable waste ink box.

WOW,It's amazing how you are so up to date with current printer changes. You really are the star of this forum. Unfortunately as an amateur but enthusiastic printer addict, I was brought up to believe that dye ink was cheaper and better for photo printing, as opposed to pigment ink which was "permanent" but also extremely expensive and generally used in pro printers. I am always interested in printers that deliver the best photo prints. I'm a Canon addict, having experienced Epson printer head clogs in the past. However, I'm always open to a change of direction and Epson printers seem to have ICC profiles which Canon printers don't have. In your opinion, does Epson have a printer than can deliver photo prints superior to the G550 at around the same price?

The interesting printers are the Epson ET-8550, L18050 and L18100. They cost more than the G550 but are A3 capable like the Canon pro-200, and the inks are cheap like the G550

Theres the Epson ET-8500 and L8050 which are A4 capable, these are the most similar to the G550 but when it comes to photo printing bigger is better (get the A3 ones)

edit: L1800 corrected to L8050

The L1800 is an A3+ printer - a kind of Ecotank version of the older 1400, the L800/805 is an A4 photo printer with light inks, the Ecotank version of the P50 A4 pho.to printer

You are right, was referring to the L8050, which is the A4 variant of the L18050.

I think the L1800 has been replaced by the L18050, I no longer see it in stock anywhere locally.

I seem to recall the L1800 had some problem which is why I did not buy it at the time, I think it did badly in your ink fading tests or something

Canon is phasing out altogether the Megatank printer models running with dye inks - and there are no new dye ink Megatanks following, only the G500/550 photo dye ink printer remains in the model range. Canon is coming up instead with new lower end Megatanks with pigment inks - GX 1050.............
