Oh-oh. CD printer?

My HP C309a is suddenly giving error 0x61011be6 when printing CDs. HP is not telling what that means, but the printer is also starting to make horrible clunks and gear-grinding noises sometimes. It's printed about 4500 pages total, of which up to 300 were "other media", presumably CDs.

Any suggestions for a CD printer? I live in the U.S. I really need this, as I do it a lot. Hopefully not too expensive, but well built. I might have the option of converting my HP 9000 Mk II (if it still works). The procedure sounds a bit risky, and I would consider buying something else just for CDs. On the other hand, the way this printer sounds, I may need another printer period, but that's another question.

I have printed a few CD's on my Pro-100.

It is slow and hand fed, but also very simple, and works exactly as described.

For small quantities it is a very economical solution. Especially if you live in North America.

Hmm, now that you mention it, $150 including yet another batch of Canon paper, plus $35 for a Linux driver, plus whatever it takes to refill it.

When you say slow, you mean something like 5 minutes or less? Less than the time it takes to burn a CD? That's what I have now and it's fine.

Anyone know how well these work with the Linux TurboPrint driver? (I can print CDs under Windows if I have to, but it's really nice if I can stick to one computer for everything.)

I have printed some Cd's on my sister's pixma ip7250. Cheap little printer, but if you want the basic printing features, and good quality (for it's price range), i would recommend it.

Reality is now knocking. This thing is still printing perfectly, but the paper/CD transport is making horrible noises. So now I need an all-in-one (so I can use it as a copier and for general office use). I might wind up with two machines. I'd sell the Pro 9000 to make room, if it still works.

How much are you going to print and burn in one session? I posted this several times but I have to mention it again me and my brother bought a used Epson discproducer pp100 it's a automatic CD /DVD (not Blu-ray thigh) burner and printer I can set it up to 100 copies or individual contents/prints and it does them all automatically.
It has the same print quality as Epson artisan 50 series since the same print head and ink are involved


So far we did only 2.000 print and burns but saved a tremendous amount of time and compared to the manual method


It's just a thought but try to calculate your time you will spend with future projects

I'll do some homework and probably get back to you if I have more specific questions. For a start, I didn't realize that most of the Canons can now print CDs. Thanks, guys. Much appreciated.

The Canon printers with disc print capability do a nice job. But the procedure for disc printing is a bit cumbersome, so it is only suitable for small scale disc printing, not for a large scale production.

Cumbersome? With the HP I pop the CD onto the tray and stick the CD into the slot until it catches, then press <Print>. Is that what you mean?
