I see that you had some real fun lately..

What seems odd is that the flex filament wouldn't stick to the bed. At least with PEI plates, you have to use a layer of 3Dlac or glue stick as a release agent, to prevent damage to the PEI surface when you remove the part. It's a real bitch to take it out, so hard it sticks there.
Maybe with glass beds it's different.

Currently I'm printing nothing, awaiting some spools of filament to arrive. Not a big deal, I'm in no mood for 3d printing because of the nasty heatwave we're suffering right now. My printer won't mind a bit of heat .... but I do mind.

Well I got these new plugs I was waiting on and started to solder it into place, the printer worked for a while but then I got the all too familiar over-heat message again, so I had to cut the plug off the wires and started again.

This time when I plugged it into the control box, I noticed smoke coming out of the plug, and so that ended that attempt, now having only one plug left, I taught, I better get this Feckin right.

The answer was no, because I made a balls of the soldering that plug once again, so I had to come up with something better that was a little easier to solder together, this simple job was all too much, I have soldered lots of things in the past and never had such bad luck.

So I decided to come up with something better, I soldered nipples onto a small PCB board and use that instead of the troublesome plug that was causing me so much grief.

I set about making a new box for the PCB board and ran wires from the motherboard direct to the PCB board, then soldered the thermistor, heater block and the two fans on to the PCB board on the other side..

Now I was able to get the printer to work with the new radiator block and Flexi filament, this was a Benchy STL, but no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t get this Flexi filament to stich to the hotbed plate, so I gave up and dumped it..

I then went mad and tried a small role of ABS filament, (What was I thinking) but it was to damp and clogged up the new nozzle and head big time.

No matter how hard I tried I couldn’t unblock the nozzles, the ABS was stuck fast in there and wasn’t coming out, and the only alternative was to remove the new heater block and put back on the older block and nozzle that I had used for ages.

This was the first clogged head I’ve had in over a year or longer, but once I had all the other pieces back on the printer, I was then able to level the bed and print an old project from a SD card that I nicked from the other CR-10 beside me..

So after all my messing around I’ve got the printer back working perfectly once again, now all I got to do is find something new that needs printing..

My advise don't do what I do...

The pleasure of reviving this old printer back to life was really great, because I know what its capable of and how well it prints, yes the other CR-10 works just as well but has never been tests like this one has..

I can truly say it has printed everything I’ve ask of it and more, I think the longest print it did was 108 hours, and did many of them week after week and never faltered, yes I got a few balls of fluff a couple of times when I’d forgotten to spray the bed, only because I’m capable of forgetting things too..
Having one 3D printer is good but having more is even better..

With all the little work my Grandkids and misses are giving me to print, I’ve finally found some time to change everything on my CR-10, because I wasn’t happy with the old setup, besides it needed a new face lift.

I remade the whole Y axes, I used the thermistor and heater tube from the other heater and block that didn’t seem to suite my printing needs and made a new cover for the fan and an all new Fang also, I kept the old radiator, heater block and point 5 nozzle.

Once I got her assembled again I was able to print out a test square to level the bed, I do the levelling on the run, and when I reckon I got it just right, I clear the print from the hot plate and reprint it again to make sure the print is sticking in all four corners.

Now I’ll be able to tackle anything that come my way pretty quickly by sharing out the tasks on both printers, it will be nice to hear them both singing along together again, it’s more satisfying than watching a colour print coming out of the inkjet printer..
P.S. It’s just another excuse to print something for me and my babies..
