I’ve been pretty quiet on my 3D printing of late because I’ve changed every wire in the loom from the plug to the nozzle head, I used this new radiator, thermistor, heater block and point 5 nozzle with a new fan also, even the Fang holding the fans was replaced, (Broke the existing one in the refit)

Here is the new radiator block and new Fang, and this is the multi wired plug that needs replacing too, because it’s not that easy to re-solder the wires back in and be sure everything is in the correct position and not shorting out.

When I get her up and running I’m planning on trying out the roll of Flexi filament I bought months ago, and if successful I might have a go at the PETG and then use up the last bit of ABS filament that’s been hanging around for the past 3 years.. Things could get interesting over the coming months.. Or not, everything might go pear shape..

What about your 'flexi-experience' Nifty ?. Haven't you tried more of that TPU ?

@The Hat, I expect that your ABS will need drying before use. Three years hanging around is a guarantee of moist filament.
Yes, those round plugs (DIN or similar) are a PITA to solder.

Nothing yet. I'm tempted to try a custom phone case, but may be upgrading my phone and would rather wait until I decide which one to get and then print.

I have some SUPER old (like 5 years) ABS sitting in the original box / sealed bag. I haven't really found any reason to try it, and am a little scared to.

... but now that I have my Ender 3 V2 dialed-in with a capricorn bowden, I may give it a try someday if I need a really strong / heat-resistant material.

Update: I’m all set to go once I get this new multi plug, it still hasn’t arrived yet, but when it does then I’ll have a chance to try out this all new head with the flexi filament, it won’t be long now..

I used that kind of plugs for PSU cables of DIY Hi-fi appliances time ago. Reliable, but a bit fiddly to solder

I used those plugs more than 15 years ago. Back then I was still handy with the solder iron.
Alas, old age is merciless. Nowadays with my ailing eyesight and shaking hands, I'd replace fiddly with a stronger word.

Well I got these new plugs I was waiting on and started to solder it into place, the printer worked for a while but then I got the all too familiar over-heat message again, so I had to cut the plug off the wires and started again.

This time when I plugged it into the control box, I noticed smoke coming out of the plug, and so that ended that attempt, now having only one plug left, I taught, I better get this Feckin right.

The answer was no, because I made a balls of the soldering that plug once again, so I had to come up with something better that was a little easier to solder together, this simple job was all too much, I have soldered lots of things in the past and never had such bad luck.

So I decided to come up with something better, I soldered nipples onto a small PCB board and use that instead of the troublesome plug that was causing me so much grief.

I set about making a new box for the PCB board and ran wires from the motherboard direct to the PCB board, then soldered the thermistor, heater block and the two fans on to the PCB board on the other side..

Now I was able to get the printer to work with the new radiator block and Flexi filament, this was a Benchy STL, but no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t get this Flexi filament to stich to the hotbed plate, so I gave up and dumped it..

I then went mad and tried a small role of ABS filament, (What was I thinking) but it was to damp and clogged up the new nozzle and head big time.

No matter how hard I tried I couldn’t unblock the nozzles, the ABS was stuck fast in there and wasn’t coming out, and the only alternative was to remove the new heater block and put back on the older block and nozzle that I had used for ages.

This was the first clogged head I’ve had in over a year or longer, but once I had all the other pieces back on the printer, I was then able to level the bed and print an old project from a SD card that I nicked from the other CR-10 beside me..

So after all my messing around I’ve got the printer back working perfectly once again, now all I got to do is find something new that needs printing..

My advise don't do what I do...
