I like these sort of public workshops but I have to wonder why the US Embassy is involved in a local Canadian library offering.

Hey Roy is going to get a laugh out of this. Government officials when they get their hands on munny!!!!! Probably came as a "favor" at a cocktail party in Ottawa. You know how that works.

What if it turned out to be a covert CIA operation? ;)

You're probably right, it was a favor and nothing sneaky.

Then again, this could be how Skynet got started! :barnie

FYI: Right now I'm running this off of a 3-AA battery pack with a 39 ohm resister in series. I might hook it up to an old 5v plugin phone charger, but it draws so little power (like 30mA) it should last about 90 hours on each pack or rechargeable batteries.

I don’t know if any DIY’iers have got started into 3D printings here yet, home printing of any sort is still in its infancy, most still use the office printer... :(
I was into 3D printing long before you guys. I've made many an airplane from my 2D printer! :D
