Interesting, would be a nice replacement for my Pro-100, it is still functioning nicely. (psst, i am hiding this email from my printer, wouldn't want it spooked). Interesting will be how the Pro-1100 self-refilling will go. As such, what will I need to replace, are refill inks even available. What about the cartridges, and resetters.

I'm not really getting it - Canon is claiming a significant improvement of the longevity, a better matte black and better scratch resistance - this inkset just could run on the existing Pro-1000 model - with a firmware and driver update, I don't see the need for new and heavier hardware - with a higher price - to run such improved inks.

It was kown at least since the reports from the Wilhelm longevity tests that the Lucia Pro inks just offer a lower longevity than the original Lucia inks, and as well lower than the HP and Epson competition.

http://www.wilhelm-research.com/Can..._and_Photo_Papers_Final_Report_2020-06-01.pdf

Most of the improvements just let the longevity catch up to the original levels which got lost with the Lucia Pro inks.

I'm reading that Canon has announced the successor of the Pro-1000 - the Pro-1100 with a new inkset Lucia Pro 2 with a 3x better longevity than the previous inks.
This is not really a new printer from Canon, more like a new paint job, Ops ink job, the only thing new are the inks, the same happened with the Pro 200 and the Pro 300..

It may only suit the storm chasers..

Looking around for the specs of the Pro 1000 and Pro 1100 I recognize that Canon is publishing a droplet size of 4 pl in the Druckkopf - Printhead section for the Pro 1000

https://www.canon.de/printers/inkjet/pro-photo-printers/imageprograf-pro-1000/specifications/

This is a very rare instance that Canon publishes a droplet size, Canon is hiding this information for lots of other printer models - for some reason I don't have an idea for.

This information is gone in the Pro 1100 specs - you are not supposed to know, Epson is not that restrictive with the droplet size info.

https://www.canon.de/printers/imageprograf-pro-1100/specifications/

The 4 pl are gone................

The Pro-1000/1100 weighs 32 kg, that's very heavy for a 17" desktop printer, you get more flexibility with a printer of the same weight like the TC-20 24" roll paper printer - it's up to the user to make a good decision.
