Need help installing MP500.

I have downloaded the driver for the MP500 on my Windows XP Home Edition computer and the printer will print but not scan.

Under software downloads Canon lists Easy Photo Print and MP Navigator, Do I have to have these installed before the MP500 will scan?

MP Navigator is Canon's scanning software. You do not need to install Easy Photo Print.

What scanning software are you trying to use?

I am attempting to install the MP500 on another computer with a fresh install of Win XP so there is no scanning software installed

This is the first MP printer I have tried to download drivers for so I am lost.

Looks like you will need both "MP500 MP Driver Ver. 1.02 for Windows XP/2000" and "MP Navigator Ver. 2.02" to utilize all of the MP 500's function. I would also try "My Printer Ver. 2.9.5" for the potential ease of use it promises.

Depending on what you will be using to print images, the "Easy-PhotoPrint EX Ver. 4.0.0" may or may not be of sufficient use to justify it's installation. It is better than using Windows XP's Windows Pictures and Fax Viewer

I was able to download My Printer 2.9.5 and MP Driver 1.02 but MP Navigator 2.02 did not complete. Will try again after midnight and see if it will download.

I can confirm that the MP Navigator is required for the scanning function...
