Canon Pixma iP7250 and MG5350,
Hallo! I've checked and there is very little here about My Image Garden, so I suspect that most people very sensibly steer well clear on the thing! However, I want to make this paper model of a duck that appears in Premium Content. I eventually got as far as obtaining the print dialog box but when I clicked on print it gave me an error. so I have done the following:
- Followed the instructions on the Canon My Image Garden help page
- Made sure that my MG 5350 is connected by USB, checked the Canon cartridges and cleared the print queue
- following a suggestion on a forum, trashed and reinstalled My Image Garden
- Made sure that my printer was set in the Quick Menu.
- Reset the printer
- Restarted my iMac running on Sierra
After all that, I cannot now even get access to Premium Content!

Help!!

Are you using OEM new carts or compatibles.. ? :hu
Thanks for your reply, Hat. I am indeed using genuine Canon carts.

I've attached the error messages:

I always use new original Canon carts. One is on slow flash. Would this affect it? They are so expensive that I usually use them until the machine won't go anymore!

Changed the cart. No different!

You can only get access to the premium content if your printer uses only Canon OEM cartridges. But it is OK that the cartridges are resat and refilled. I just installed "My Image Garden" on a test computer. If a Canon MG5250 with refilled OEM cartridges is connected to the computer I can get access to the premium content. I tried to replace 3 OEM cartridges with compatible cartridges I had resat and refilled. I don't understand why but I can still get access to the premium content. Even an almost empty compatible cartridge that is not resat but just has some ink dripped into the outlet to avoid ruining the print head is accepted. so that test didn't work. The compatible cartridges are those seen in this post.

Closing "My Image Garden", turning the printer off and opening "My Image Garden" again causes several error messages. Accepting these error messages finally causes an error message like yours "Cannot display etc..." So it seems your printer somehow doesn't pass the cartridge test. Do all cartridge LEDs show a steady light?

A Canon iP7250 with a set of compatible cartridges of which three are flashing quickly and two have had the ink level monitoring disabled is rejected.

My tests were done on a laptop running Windows 10 32 bit, but I think the Mac version of the program behaves in the same manner as the Windows version.

I have downloaded, printed and scanned the Duck files and an instruction. I attach them in a zipped folder. I hope the quality is not degraded too much due to file size limitations.

I solved the problem. To be fair, Canon did highlight this, but you sort of get used to your own system. We have two computers and two printers on a LAN via a router. My printer is connected via the router to the printer but my wife's computer has a direct connection to the printer. So my computer wouldn't work because it was not connected directly to the printer. I downloaded My Image Garden onto my wife's computer - she Has OSX Lion but I found an older version on the Canon Canada website - and, bingo, no problems.

Hope that might help others with My Image Garden who use a LAN.

Thanks as always for your help and tips.

Thank you for the feed-back.

I think the Canon people are not quite clear. They write in the first error message that the printer must be connected to a computer, but they don't use the word "directly", so what does "connected to a computer" mean? I guess you used a USB connection to make the program work on your computer?

Well - perish the thought that I should be critical of Canon (!) but I do find their instruction difficult sometimes. You are correct in that I did use a USB connection to make My Image Garden work but, for goodness sake - it's a Canon Printer with bluetooth connectivity. So why doesn't My Image Garden work wirelessly? Answers on a postcard, please - directly to Canon!

Thnks again.
