My Epson Pro 3880 behaving strangely

Today I was unable to print on my Epson Pro 3880, which is connected by ethernet.

It is red (left) and flashing orange (right) on the ethernet slot. Can somebody tell me what their colour is when connected by ethernet ?

I am afraid my printer is malfunctioning. Ink levels are shown, but prints are cancelled. Also reinstalling printer by auto detect is impossible, which is not OK for me, because previously it is easily detected by Windows without any problems.

All my router cable connections are showing green left and right, but none are for printers.. Does this help...?

What make and model router do you have? Your user manual should show/tell you what the colors mean.

Try connecting the printer directly to your computer via USB cable to see if the printer is the problem. You may need to install the printer drivers or alter settings on your computer to "see" and use the printer. My new Canon Maxify asks how the printer will be used - direct connect via USB, wirelessly, etc - which may or may not affect use. In cases like this, try simply connecting with USB and if still does not work then uninstall all Epson apps and drivers, reboot and then do a new printer install as if you just opened the printer box.

Some routers have a port specifically for a printer to plug into. Otherwise, one uses the printer's wifi to connect with a router.

I mean the colour on the printer ethernet connection. The colour of your router depends on the brand used I know. I think the ethernet connection is broken. Therefore I need to know what the normal colours are in case the printer prints.

I just make a picture of the back side of my Epson Pro 3880. Because of the colour change it might be not so visible, but the left light is red and the right yellow-orange.

Again, if you mean the lights signifying an ethernet connection or the color of the ethernet port itself on your router then you need to tell us the make and model of your router or look it up yourself on Google.

If there is a light on the printer then I do not see it in the User Manual, although the manual refers to flashing lights and LCD error messages for problems with the printer.

I think the ethernet connection is broken.

Have you tried plugging the printer's ethernet cable into a different ethernet port on the router, or, tried connecting your Internet cable from the wall into the suspect ethernet port. You should be able to diagnosis what is bad. This way it doesn't matter what color is showing or not.

Maybe something reversible is happening. Look in the Router's settings for anomalies.

Again, knowing the make and model of your router would streamline things.

Have you tried a different ethernet cable? A different ethernet port on the Router?

According to your manual, your left light currently displays neither 10 (green light) or 100 (orange light) Base-T network speed connection, unless you are mistaking an orange light for a red light. Do you know the speed of the ethernet port on the router that the printer is connected?

Not enough info yet to know whether it is the printer or the router that is fecked.

Try the suggestions in this post and the one I posted immediately beforehand to figure out what ethernet port, device or cable is bad.

Problem solved: I installed a new router and there was possibly a DNS address duplicate causing my problem. The printer now prints without any problems.

How would that affect your "red" light on the left side of the ethernet port on the printer?
