MX922 - My first carts refill

Hi,

The original carts are almost at the end, the PGI250BK is now blinking at 1 sec. frequency, the CLI-251M blinks at 3 secs frequency, the others are still OK.

I am prepared for the switch, I purchased the Precisioncolor aftermarket empty carts and inks, before refilling I have a question:

Given the above situation, should I just refill the new PGI250BK cart and leave the original color ones in place or should I just change them all?

The PGI250BK should be 'independent' I mean this is the one used for grayscale printing so it should not mix with the others inks... or am I wrong?

I just want to start with the right foot.

If grayscale printing is important to you, you may have a challenge ahead. That task is one of the most demanding tests of an inkset's match to an OEM's inkset.

The reason, the dye black cart is NOT typicaly used exclusively by grayscale printing. Other colors are mixed by the driver for certain gray shades. Expect a color cast that may be OK for your purpose, or not...

YMMV.

I would recommend to change them all. After changing only BK the printer will do a cleaning cycle with a big chance that one of the others will have to be replaced afterwards.

OK guys, I will follow your advice, the printer is mainly used by my kids for school stuff, high quality is not a priority, but I do not want to mix the two inks.

If your printer is only been used by the children for school stuff then it won’t make a slight bit of difference to them if you mix the inks, neither they nor you will see any changes.
