Warning message flashed up
Support Code : 1702 The ink absorber is almost full. Press the printer's Start button to continue printing. Contact the service center.

Is there a way to clear this as sending the machine of for repair will cost more than a new one ?

Thanks
Brian.

I hope this isn't too late.

I found an old thread that suggests that the MG3500 and likely also the MG3600 can be reset. But how different are the MG3600 series and MG3600S series of printers and can the S models also be reset?

The use of a too old (too low version number) service tool will block access to service mode. This service manual for the MG3500 and MG3600 shows the use of a service tool v 4713. But here is a link to service tool v4718 that is newer and so doesn't block service mode. See this for the reset operation.

I suggest to read the thread from post #26 to the last post.

You are welcome to ask for more detailed instructions for the service mode operations. Please report your results.

Additionally to resetting the parameter in the controller that estimates how much ink was absorbed in your pads, your ink pads might actually be soaked. You might wanna look into that too so your printer can dump its waste ink to remain printing with quality. The solution from the manufacturers is to get them replaced or get a new printer, so their estimates are usually quite rough in their favor. With some printers you can rather 'easily' DIY waste tank tubes or replace the pads yourself with some fresh material.
