This symptom may indicate an electrical problem. Sometimes, not very often, it is a faulty connection on the back of the color cartridge and can be fixed by removing it and cleaning the contacts and reinstalling it. But most of the time it is an electrical defect internal to the cartridge and cannot be fixed. Fortunately, in every case that I can remember, a new cartridge will get you going again. Even if it is not electrical but an ink flow problem or clogged nozzles, if you like your printer, you can just buy a new color ink cartridge, since the print head is built into the cartridge.

Is the cartridge OEM Canon or an off-brand?

Can you take it back where you got it from, maybe with your printer to show them the problem?

Does your printer tell you when the ink is low?

Does it reset if you remove the cartridge and reinstall it?
