but I think your words 'a bit slower' are an understatement. On my Maxify quiet mode is very slow. It takes three times longer than normal mode to finish a print job.

You’ve got the take the good with the bad, so extending the life of the print head is not such a bad thing, even if it take a little “Bit” longer..

Have had my Pro-10 unplugged from the mains since 2013 when i bought the printer.
Just plugged it in and used it a couple of times. Not really many prints has been done.
Maybe two packs of 10x15cm papers and a pack of A4 papers.
Then a couple of text documents.
Quiet mode activated and also auto power off.
Since this printer is really loud when it do its startup/maintenance.. with spinning the rollers, moving the print head and some more spooling... etc.. not nice in the night when everyone are sleeping.

So.. im also on the "Setup" cartridges
Everything has been fine until today.
Plugged the power in and turned the printer on.

Printed a transport label.. just a couple of black lines came out. Unreadable.
Did a cleaning cycle and then with a nozzle check, Then cleaned it again as suggested by printer driver.
Did a nozzle check and got a slightly better results.. but lacking black and some other issues.
Then the driver reported Cyan to på empty and i couldnt do any more nozzle checks and cleaning.
Driver blocks me out and i understand why. The level for the other cartridges reports low 5% left or what it says.
Has a triangular warning sign on the side.

So i thought... since im going to replace this Setup canon cartridges with new canon ones i take them out, take the print head out and let it soak in some propyl alcohol. So i have done. Soaking right now. Seen a lot of particles.. also a black stripe of ink. looks dried.

The pads some people talk about at the "parking station" the one to the right has a little pool of black ink it seems on top. Looks a little bit messy over the whole thing.
I will attach some pictures of the printer head and from the pads.. dont know if i should clean the area or just take the pads out and clean them some?

Firstly trying to print with a clogged up print head is a dangerous practice.

You need to soak the print head in warm water with some fairy washing up liquid in it, alcohol is not the best thing to use, leave it to soak for a day but change the water every few hours or so.

You can however flood the parking station with W5 window cleaner and then run a cleaning cycle, before reinstalling the print head make sure its dry, best practice is to leave it somewhere fairly warm for a couple of hours.. replace all the carts on startup..

It seems to have dissolved great with isopropyl alcohol.
I dont know the head is that really clogged. Since i have good progression after just two nozzle clean as you can see on the pictures. Got back more of the colors.
Im not going to use water since its not good for the metal parts. Will rust. Even super small particles.

Allready reinstalled print head and stuff.

I might revisit the "parking station" if required later.
I dont think it looks super bad. Just at the far side with the exxcesive black/dark ink on.

Looking forward too see some improvements.

If that was true, as inks are composed 80-90% of water, I expect that every printhead out there would rust in no time right after you print a couple of pages..
