Update. I just got a reply from Wel-Try. It seems they still have some problems with the cartridges and we'll have to wait a bit longer until they are worked out. I'll keep you guys posted.

All of them! LOL
That's excellent! I can definitely wait till they iron out all the design problems. I am glad they are conducting tests to make sure everything is working properly. Too often products get pushed to final production before they are ready.

Is there an actual difference between the Ink republic inks for the 3880 and the ones being used on the R3000 at this moment?
As far as i know the OEM inksets of both printers are the same. Pharmacist tested the IRK-4 inks for his 3800 so maybe he can give us seem in depth info on this?
I am planning to purchase an Epsn R3000 and I already contacted wel-try too and there seems to be some problems with the cartridges. As soon as they are available I will contact them back to grab a set of these cartridges.

I know this won't really be an issue once we get a working set of Carts and affordable ink set, but why in the world would Epson would insist on using a print head that still requires PK and MK switching ( though it is automatic ) wasting from 1 to 3 cc of ink when going from Gloss& luster to Matte. Why didn't they include a print head with separate PK and MK ink channels such as on the R1900? Is it because the R3000 is using and already existing print head like such as used in the 3880?

Good news: Wel-try has fininshed the development of the Epson R2000/R3000 refillable cartridges and CIS with auto-reset chips. I'll get some more info and get back ASAP.

YES!!! Please, definitely keep us informed!

I was just informed by a well known individual in the 3rd party ink&carts&ciss business that he will be evaluating several sets of their carts but that he is also having an equivalent product of his own "different design" being developed which is supposed to be better than the Chinese carts.

Whatever that may mean.
Interesting if it turns out to be true.

Holy mackerel. I'm an artist (painter) and a n00b here. I just got around to upgrading my printer from an RX680 (which I still use for invoices, etc.) to an R2000 - the main reason I upgraded was so I could reproduce my orange/red/sunset paintings. I'm happy to report I've had SUCCESS! However, I'm watching the ink being sucked dry quickly and am wondering what the smartest move would be for me:

Buy refillable cartridges and ink and have a go at that? If so, which brand of ink?
OR
Hold my breath and wait for the R2000 CISS to become readily available? If so, again, which delivery system/brand of ink?

To get an idea of my usage and color needs, I sell about 10 prints a month and also will be using the new printer for all of my glass jewelry and magnets (new item). If you need an idea of the color saturation, of my prints etc., you can view my shop on skelekitty.artfire.com.

I noticed there are a few places that claim they have a CISS for the R2000, but then I get into the websites and get nervous - one is alieexpress which was linked to earlier here.

None of my colleagues use CISS or refillable ink cartridges, so ANY suggestions, warnings, reality checks and or interesting tidbits of trivia are welcome! I've given myself a headache trying to stuff my brain with too much info at once. :/

Thanks in advance!

Krissi

I am using Refillables from Mikling's site Precision Colors on Ebay. So far I have not see a reliable proven CISS for it. You can get full OEM sets of carts on ebay as low as $60 which is not too bad considering. Prices will vary and some are dependant on your bidding luck. One thing you must be aware of is that if you are into the R2000 for the wonderful gloss on glossy and luster papers, You will not be getting the same level of gloss with any 3rd party ink combo. I've tried several. I am sure someday they will conquer that problem. However if you are printing on other than glossy papers you will get excellent results with most 3rd party QUALITY inks, The R2000 uses the same ink set as the R1900. Inkjetfly - inkjetcarts.us - Precision Color ( Image Specialist ink ) Jon Cone inks and likely a few others.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!! I think for now, I'll stick with the OEMs - I was able to find some in the $59-$65 range for a set.

I do love the glossy glossiness for my prints - since I work in layers of clear gel medium, it mimics my originals incredibly well. Now I'm thinking... what if I used OEM clear gloss cartridges with refillable colors... Hmmm... That's an experiment for another day, though.

Thanks again, jtoolman. This place is a wealth of info - I'm sure I'll learn all kinds of stuff!

Nope! It wtill won't give the same gloss due to the fact that the inks themselves are micro encapsulated in some sort or polymer that gives them a glossy characteristic. Other inks do not seem to follow that so just running an PEM Gloss Op cart along side is not enough to make full difference. I and currently running two R1900s and one R2000. One of those R1900 is 100 OEM and the other is Precision Colors Refillable carts with Image Specialist inks and OEM Gloss Op Cart. That one still doesn not give the gorgeous gloss that you will get running full OEM carts. Color is another thing. I.S. inks, at least the ink set from PC is almost 100% match to Epson OEM R1900 / R2000
So go ahead and get them from Ebay. I will probably do the same as well for the R2000 though I don't have a problem running the ones from PC / IS inks as I am printing on fine art non glossy papers.
