Right lets start with the comments you mentioned.
I wouldnt bother replacing the pigment ink with dye because there is no advantage in doing
so at all the pigment ink is the better way to go.
If you weigh your cartridges before using them and note each individual weight
then it makes it easier to refill them back up to that exact weight again.
To disable your ink cartridge wait till they each empty and the printer asks for a replacement then hold in the resume for 4 or 5 seconds and it will be done
but youll have to do that on each cartridge as they empty one at a time.
then get one its a much better option than going down the disabling route. (More control)
You can also get ARC chips (Automatic Reset Chips) if youre unable to get a hold of a chip resetter they work very well on large capacity cartridges when the power is left on.
To refill the cartridge you will need a big syringe (60 ml) and a 14 or 16 gauge needle
bigger is best for both, maybe even one for each colour.
Half fill the syringe with the proper colour ink and no air then insert the needle into the outlet hole in the cartridge and pull back on the plunger as much as you can dont force it. (To remove some air)
Now press down on the plunger slowly and inject the ink into the cartridge but not the air above the ink, please remember to keep the cartridge on the bottom and the syringe on top (Totally vertical).
Just keep repeating this procedure till the cartridge reaches the desired weight then it will be completely full and ready for use.
As I said in the earlier thread to keep your printer powered on all the time and that will cut down on unnecessary cleaning cycles..
Edit: - it doesn’t, just print something at least every two days, even a nozzle check, this will stop the ink wastage..

If you disable the ink monitoring you will no longer have ink level reports on screen and it doesnt stop the cleaning cycles."if you don't use a resetter and wait until the printer asks you if you are willing to void the warranty, then it will not only quit reporting the ink levels in your cartridges, it will also quit doing all those unnecessary cleaning cycles."
You can fill the pigment black cartridge with dye if you wish and you dont have to wash or rinse out the cartridge first, both inks are compatible." You can't just fill the black with dye ink.
If you want to convert it you'll have to rinse out all the pigment ink from the cartridge since pigment and dye inks aren't very compatible.
"you can fill the cartridge with a solution of water and dish soap.
The ratio is about 3 drops to two ounces of water

It is best to refill the original Canon cartridges that came with your printer and not bother about getting any others.Ok I am ready to learn the process. Just how do I refill ink tanks and disable the ink monitoring.
When I refill ink tanks do I re-use the Canon ink tanks?

If you can get a resetter for your cartridge chips, especially the maintenance cartridge"my chip resetter just arrived today..."
